Chhattisgarh: The annual meeting of civil society was organized on Saturday at Hotel Aditya in the capital Raipur, in collaboration with philanthropic organization SHIVI, Civil Development Society and CARA. In this meeting, the role of civil society in the development of Bastar and women’s human rights were discussed extensively.
Subject experts including members of civil society and social workers were present in this discussion, who threw light on different topics.

Raipur (Gramin) MLA Satyanarayan Sharma was also present in this meeting. Keeping his point, he said that the role of social service organisations is very important in countering injustice and providing justice to the people. Organisations like SHIVI are continuously doing meaningful work in this direction. This institution has played an important role in providing justice to the people in tribal dominated areas like Surguja and Bastar. He said that the participation of women in the society should be strengthened, because the strength of women is the strength of the society.
Justice Shyam Sahu of the Human Rights Commission, who was present as a guest during the discussion, defined the concept of human rights and told how the commission is working for the protection of human rights. He said that in case the police do not interfere in the crime in any case, the commission takes self-cognizance and investigates and resolves the matter.
Here legal aid is completely free. The application is completely resolved. He also appealed to the people to be legally aware so that speedy justice can be done. On the basis of some recent case studies, he told how justice has been accessible to the people with the help of the commission.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Avinash Mishra, who was present as a guest during the discussion, discussed the role of civil society and police in the development of Bastar. He said that during my posting in Bastar, I realise that people of many ideologies are living together there and the battle of ideologies is seen there. In such a situation, the police is working there with the aim of trust development and security. Police in Bastar is playing a big role in law and order as well as development. They Said that the civil society would have to work by strengthening the trust, then only balanced development would be possible in the backward areas of the state.
Rajesh Kumar Bisen, assistant jailer posted in Raipur Central Jail, while addressing the program said that over crowding is becoming a common problem in the jail. In such a situation, the society also needs to think that in this way crimes can be curbed in the society. In such a situation the role of civil society becomes very important in the social interest. Giving the example of the recently released National Award winning film ‘Bhoolan’, he explained his point very well.
