Raipur. Chhattisgarh: As per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the process of promoting police personnel has been sped up. And now on the occasion of Diwali, a large number of police personnel are going to receive the gift of promotion. DGP Mr. DM Awasthi informed that as per the very considerate decision of Chief Minister, a large number of police personnel have been promoted from the post of Sepoy to Constable and from the post of Constable to ASI. In all the districts of the state, as many as 2952 sepoys were found eligible for promotion to the post of Constable and 865 constables were found eligible for the promotion to the post of ASI. DGP Mr. Awasthi has directed all the Range IGs to organize the pre-promotion course for the eligible constables and ASIs soon. Out of the total 865 candidates found eligible for the promotion from constable to ASI, 190 personnel are in Raipur range, 146 in Durg range, 124 in Bilaspur range, 98 in Sarguja range and 307 are in Bastar range. Moreover, the 2952 candidates found eligible for the promotion from the post of constable to ASI include 180 candidates in Raipur district, 95 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 72 in Gariaband, 55 in Dhamtari district, 50 in Mahasamund district, 24 in GRP, 6 in PTS Mana, 13 in Police Academy Chandrakhuri, 88 in Durg district, 45 in Bemetara, 30 in Balod, 93 in Rajnandgaon, 80 in Kabeerdham, 61 in Bilaspur, 35 in Mungeli, 62 in Janjgir-Champa, 55 in Raigarh, 29 in Korba , 19 in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 55 in Sarguja, 33 in Koriya, 53 in Jashpur, 62 in Surajpur, 75 in Balrampur-Ramanujganj, 6 in PTS Mainpat, 217 in Jagdalpur, 198 in Kondagaon, 202 in Dantewada, 194 in Sukma, 242 in Kanker, 309 in Bijapur and 212 candidates in Narayanpur.
Such a large number of promotions would lead to better policing and expedited investigations. It is noteworthy that as per the police regulation, only constables or the police officials a rank higher than that can investigate a case. With this round of promotions, Chhattisgarh Police will get nearly four thousand investigators, which would not only speed up the investigation of pending cases but will also bring justice to the victims sooner. Personnel of Chhattisgarh Police have said that in the last three years, their various demands are being considered with utmost sensitivity and the process of promotion has been expedited.
