
New Delhi. Udan Scheme: 4 new airports will be built in the country and flights will be started on 50 new routes. There are plans to start flying on 30 of these routes in the month of October itself. On Thursday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gave this information while keeping the 100-day plan of his ministry in front of the country. He said that the period from August 30 to November 30 has been fixed for the completion of the scheme.
He said that the accountability of the government should be towards the people. That’s why we have set a target of 100 days of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. We have prepared a 100 day action plan for the Ministry, on the basis of which we can maintain transparency and accountability towards the stakeholders. In this action plan, we have set 3 main goals, the first being infrastructure, the second being the policy goals and the third being the reform initiatives.
Jyotiraditya Scindia said that we are going to lay the foundation stone of four new airports in the infrastructure. The first airport will be at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs 255 crore, with an investment of Rs 457 crore in Dehradun airport in Uttarakhand. Agartala airport in Tripura will have an investment of 490 crores. Jewar Airport will be a total project of Rs 30,000 crore. By the fourth phase, the capacity of Jewar airport is going to be 7 crores.
In the press conference, he told that Kushinagar airport will have the capability of successful landing of Airbus 321 and Boeing 737 flights. Kushinagar will become the focal point of the Buddhist circuit. Scindia said that Rs 457 crore is being invested in Dehradun airport in Uttarakhand. A new terminal building will come up at Dehradun Airport, Uttarakhand. With this investment, the terminal building will be able to handle 1800 passengers as against 250 at present.
The Union Civil Aviation Minister said that under the UDAN scheme, there is a target of 5 new airports in the next 100 days. Keshod in Gujarat, Deoghar in Jharkhand, Gondia and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Four new helipads will be built in Himachal Pradesh and two in Uttarakhand. In the next 100 days, we are going to start 50 new routes in UDAN. Out of this, we will start 30 new routes in the month of October itself.
