
New Delhi. Tokyo Paralympic: Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district collector Suhas L.Y. He won the silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics on Sunday. Suhas suffered a 21-15, 17-21, 15-21 defeat against Lucas Mazur of France in the final of Badminton Men’s Singles SL4. With this, he got this silver medal and he came into the discussion all over the country.
IAS Suhas LY of the year 2007 batch. Along with administrative responsibilities, he is an international level badminton player. Prior to this, he had won a gold medal in badminton in the Asian Championships held in China in the year 2016.
As soon as Suhas won the medal in Tokyo Paralympics, there was a wave of happiness in the whole family. People associated with the administrative staff also joined in this happiness. This moment is very unique for the city of Gautam Buddha Nagar. His District Collector won the title of being the second best badminton player in the world in a big sporting event like Paralympics.
His family has expressed great happiness over Suhas’s performance. His wife Ritu Suhas in a discussion with news agency ANI shared the story of her husband’s struggle and becoming a top sportsperson. Ritu said, ‘It was her dream to play for the country in the Paralympics. To fulfill this dream, he dedicated the precious 6 of his life. When he was going to the Paralympics, I told him to just play his best game without worrying about the outcome and that’s what he did.
Ritu further said, ‘The credit for this success of Suhas LY goes only to his hard work and no one else.’ Ritu said that he had prayed for the success of all the players participating in the Tokyo Paralympics and thankfully that she even accepted.
Ritu said that her husband believes in working hard to reach his destination. Despite being in government service, he always takes out time to play games. He used to practice badminton daily from 8 pm to 12 pm. His coach also worked hard to bring him forward.
Please tell that Ritu Suhas is also an administrative officer like her husband. He is presently posted as Additional District Magistrate in Ghaziabad. Ritu Suhas also won the title of Mrs India in the year 2019.
