Hidlin Diaz won her country’s first Olympic gold medal, setting a Games record in the 55kg category at the Tokyo International Forum, a weightlifting event. Hidlin set an Olympic record in the clean and jerk by lifting 127 kilograms and totaling 224 kilograms. Hidillin, 30, overtook Qiyun Liao of China in her last lift in the clean and jerk with a total of 224 kg, one more than Qiyun.
Hidilin won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He trained in Malaysia for the Tokyo Games.
