Hyderabad. Wireless charging E-bike: The students of KL Deemed University, Hyderabad have developed a unique electric bike with wireless charging technology. A team of six third and fourth year students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KL College of Engineering along with some university alumni have developed the innovative prototype.
Developed by the KLU team, the e-bike will offer the experience of traveling at a maximum speed of 55 kmph with wireless charging capability. This e-bike gets fully charged in five hours and it can cover a distance of 85 to 100 km in a single charge.
The charging technology is coupled with programmable cell balancing feature which gives maximum battery capacity for long lasting charge. The team retrofitted an existing bike and modified it into a prototype of an e-bike with wireless charging. The team made several changes to the bike’s design including moving the gear module from the BLDC motor through the controller.
The team developed the initial concept and prototype using its free access to laboratories and testing facilities provided by the university, which also has its campuses in #AndhraPradesh and #Telangana. The e-bike has futuristic features including cell balancing and wireless charging, which are available in just a few places around the world. Project team members include Charan Sai Tiruvuri, Sandeep, Kireti Polasi, S. Lokesh Babu, V. Sai Praveen, B.Tech all students of EEE 2017 batch and Yashwant Sai, an alumnus of EEE department were present.
