Raipur. Chhattisgarh: Latest Research: Sero-detection of SARS COV-2 (SARS ‑ CoV ‑ 2) virus by Research Scientists of Multidisciplinary Research Institute (MRU) located at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital. For the purpose of serological assessment, a test kit is being designed that will easily detect neutralizing antibodies (NAb) formed in the body against SARS COV-2 virus.
The spike protein of SARS COV-2 virus can be detected easily through this antibody detection kit being prepared under the leadership of Dr. Jagannath Pal, Chief Research Scientist of Multidisciplinary Research Institute (MRU). It is known that the protective immune response in the human body as a causative agent of SARS COV-2 involves the production of anti-spike protein antibodies. This kit will detect SARS COV-2-related antibodies in the human body in a very short period of time.

Dr. Jagannath Pal along with Junior Scientist Dr. Yogita Rajput are also involved in the preparation of the antibody test kit being prepared by MRU scientists to make the worldwide fight against COVID-19 epidemic even stronger. Dr. Vivek Chaudhary (Dean, Professor cum Director and HOD, Radiotherapy Department / Regional Cancer Institute), the nodal officer of MRU, provided ongoing support and encouragement to the scientists to pursue this research.
Dr. Arvind Neralwar, HOD Pathology Department and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Patra, Dean cum Additional Director of Medical Education also provided necessary support to MRU research so that this research could reach its original form.

The continued support of Dr. Vishnu Dutt, Dean of the Medical College and Dr. Vinit Jain, Medical Superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital, provided the necessary support for the smooth running of the research activity at MRU.
According to scientist Dr. Pal, this research is in its final stages and when this research is approved by ICMR, this antibody based test kit can be used in clinics. The kit will likely be the second indigenous diagnostic (diagnostic) and lowest manufacturing cost testing kit in India to detect neutralizing antibodies against covid-19, enabling a large population to leverage technology in the Battle of Corona.
What is Neutralizing Antibody?
It is an antibody that is developed by the body to neutralize the corona virus. This antibody neutralizes the virus to enter human cells and directly protects the human body from infection. Neutralizing antibodies prevent the virus from infecting the cell in the body. This antibody does not inhibit the biological effects of the cell and creates protective immune mechanisms against the SARS COV-2 virus in patients.
