
New Delhi. CBI: Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Director of the country’s premier investigative agency CBI. The Cabinet Appointment Committee of the Central Government has approved the appointment of Subodh Kumar Jaiswal as the new Director of CBI. Jaiswal has been appointed for the next 2 years. His term will last till 2023. Jaiswal is originally an IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre and has held several key positions in the Mumbai Police Chief as well as the Maharashtra Police.

Explain that since the retirement of former CBI chief Rishi Kumar Shukla, 1988 batch IPS officer and Additional Director of CBI Pravin Sinha was taking charge of CBI Director. He retired in February this year after completing a two-year term. The post of full-time director in the CBI was vacant since his retirement.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday for the selection of the new CBI Director. Apart from the Prime Minister, two other members of the committee, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna were present in this high-level committee meeting.
